In the Fog at Night, Our Path Forks...

A Cautionary Tale by Fred B. Houck

There is a wise, old saying — common in the mountains:

"When entering unknown country, stay on the trodden path. It was made by those who went before you and found the best way."

Detours, shortcuts and inviting directions nearly always lead to a cliff or dead end and require an eventual return to the original trail. It usually costs both time and energy you may not have. For over two hundred years America has been following a path blazed by our pathfinders. That path has led us to prosperity, wealth and individual freedom that is unique in human history.

Now we find ourselves in the fog of confusing noise with competing guides and America has reached a fork in the road. We know the original path leads one uphill, but the new guides insist on following a different one, leading us downhill, where the walking is easier and all we have to do is give up our personal freedom of choice while yielding to their rule. They say that they know what is best for us and can lead us to a better place. They say we won't have to carry our own burden because they will choose who shall carry everyone's load.

The larger group, the traditional Americans, have never changed their view or their belief in the pathfinders of America. They have always held firm to the belief that each American is free because we do carry our own load, earn our own way, and do what we can to make America better for all. They also have a firm belief that, if we do our best ourselves, God will help us find our way.  We traditional Americans ask for nothing more and we will yield our rights to no one, regardless of their promises.

The downhill path is offered by those who envisioned and formed the USSR and other similar utopian forms of oligarchy. The politicians who hold their own power above the citizens who elected them and claim "we know better," combined with the broadcast and print media (graduated by our infiltrated academia), are the false guides pointing down the "easy" hill path. They say they will rule us into a better way.

NOW we choose. We must each choose the path to follow. We can stay true to the American way, carry our own weight, ask for no handouts, and demand our right to choose for ourselves, OR... we can yield up our rights and be ruled by the few...like every nation that is not America. This is not a simple, unimportant decision. We choose the direction our children and grandchildren will follow. If we allow the statist left to make our choices for us America will no longer be the envy of the world. We will be ruled... like every other and all traditions will be lost. All freedom will be lost.

I am a Traditional American and I will NOT be RULED! Each will choose now. Now, more than ever, character counts.

Our Founders did not write a document that required great legal expertise or philosophical studies to understand when they drafted our Constitution.  They wrote it for the people to understand by applying their own good common sense.

The document outlined a system of government that above all else was to ensure that individual liberty could not be obstructed by denying our unalienable rights, which are God-given.  Neither our neighbor nor any enemy, foreign or domestic, has any authority under our system of government to infringe upon our rights. No individual is allowed to exercise his or her rights at the expense of another.  Our federal governments sole purpose is to protect our rights against intrusions that our individual states would be unable to... due to their very nature.

The Founders knew that some government was necessary to maintain an orderly society and that government is force, which could be either a faithful servant or our fearful master, like fire is.

Every word of the Constitution was debated. None was accidentally or inadvertently inserted. None of these words were mere window-dressing or of no effect.  Each term or clause within this brilliantly conceived document has its own merit.  There are also no taboo or “birther” sections that should be avoided or not be discussed.

So as ordinary Americans we are able to look at the section that outlines the special requirements for the unique office which is given executive powers, command of the armed forces and interfaces with other sovereign nations in negotiating agreements with them. Our common sense tells us to keep in mind the overriding purpose for this document is to have a self government which keeps our liberty intact in a just society.

U.S. Constitution Article II, Section 1

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.

So, when the Founders wrote these words they were in fact finalizing (subject only to Constitutional amendment) what they thought was required for this powerful office.

What would suffice for this office?

The person undoubtedly needs to be a citizen who had reached an age that ensured the opportunity to have enough education, maturity and experience to do the job.

He could not suddenly return to our society having lived elsewhere under foreign influence and vie immediately for the office. This person needed to establish 14 years residency.  What is the plain effect of these two separate requirements?

Clearly these are requirements meant for the public to judge the suitability for office to the chief representative of the American people. It is also common sense clear that only persons that are known to us to be involved and on record as part of American society by their words and deeds could be considered eligible.

The argument over the term “natural born Citizen” is being dissected every which way for its legal meaning.  If we apply common sense though, we see this special term refers to undivided American allegiance. A citizen child is not enough, the child must have parents whose ONLY allegiance is to the United States from the time he or she is born as well. Only those who needed to be “grandfathered” in at our humble beginnings were excepted from this.

Instinctively we know that the Founders would not have qualified anyone for this office who had any conflicts in allegiance for any other country like a born citizen with a foreigner parent has.

In a nutshell, our common sense tells us... only Americans, who are born that way, to only American parents, could ever be a “natural born Citizen.”

So the Founders required that only those we know are prepared for the job, are ingrained into our society with a minimum time requirement and who are “only” American at birth are eligible for consideration of the job.

It is unlikely, a person who has never proven even a broader definition of American citizenship, claimed a foreign citizen father, hidden all past ideological public writings, documents and/or foreign associations from view, and declared himself a “citizen of the world” is someone who could ever fit the requirements the Founders intended.

If they wouldn’t qualify such a person, why should we?

America has watched as the courts and media have done all they can to dismiss this question altogether.  

We, along with our common sense, are left to only speculate as to why that is.

You do not have to be a student of the US Constitution to know that something is very, very wrong with the latest revelations in Barack Obama's views about our founding documents.

Should he be elected, Barack Obama would have to swear allegiance to the United States of America and to the US Constitution.

Now we have heard the audio tapes on redistribution and how he feels that our Constitution is "flawed", that "there is an enormous blind spot overlooked by the founding fathers", that they basically got it wrong and that a huge opportunity was missed during the civil rights movement to rectify the situation by the Warren Supreme Court.

Just how will Obama be able to take an Oath to defend America and our Constitution when he believes that both are fundamentally bad? Will he have his fingers crossed over the good book or maybe cross his toes inside his Patton leathers out of sight to his gallery of adoring fans summoned to commemorate his triumph?

I am not parsing words as he does. Obama is guilty by the preponderance of evidence in his words and in his actions in working to change the fundamentals of our country. He would admit as much before running for President. What he will not admit is that his change of redistribution
is social engineering, in other words socialism. In other words Marxism!

The beauty of our Constitution is the concept of limited government that keeps the power in the hands of "We the People" and does limit the power that the government can exert on us. This is not how Obama wants it to be at all.

How does Obama want to change us? He wants to "improve" our Constitution. He wants Justices that will interpret the Constitution to infer rights rather than preserve them. That one aspect would effectively seize power from the people and give it to a few unelected
justices to fabricate unimaginable law.

That is neither preserving or defending our Constitution, that is subverting it.

This outcome would be no different than an attack by a domestic enemy, the document is not just a political paper, it is our principles and our law. Obama thinks our Constitution is just a "paving political document" but is too flawed to be considered capable of basing our society on!
Why? It does not actively confer additional socialism solutions!

The "white executive does not want to pay taxes to inner city school children" and the government should therefore step in and make them! Does this sound like a statement from someone who is interested in preserving rights?

Redistribution of income mandated by a government is Marxism. Every society that has attempted to impose this system has ended up with a less efficient society with a more dependent citizenry, inflated prices, and high unemployment in comparison to our capitalistic economy.

This upheaval in the midst of an emerging global economy will wreck total and possibly permanent damage to our economy.

Not only should this man not be elected he should be banned from holding any elective office due to his extreme views and his expressed desire to attack our Constitution in order to change it or destroy it. This is tyranny, and must be stopped.

It is only responsible to have serious reservations on this man's allegiance to this country.
I am tired of the unwillingness to state this now apparent stance. Obama does not care for either our country or our Constitution as it is. His view is that our own Constitution is unjust and always has been!

The Constitution is our law and it has served us well to become the greatest country ever on the face of the earth! America has been the greatest defender of freedom and liberty throughout the world. America is the most generous country helping millions on the globel.

Obama doesn’t think this is a great country! Obama does not like our Constitution that is the very reason we have liberty and freedom.

Under Obama liberty and freedom lose.

Wake up! Pay attention!

I love and appreciate this country.

I love my family which I feel represents a pretty typical family in America.

My feelings are most likely shared by millions of other families across the country.
Families go about their daily lives and experience both triumph and tribulation as they do so.
Most families, like most individuals have their ups and downs. For the most part people are busy, balancing their jobs, family, pursuing their interests.

This country allows for a freedom and liberty unseen before in the history of civilizations.
A few are very aware of this and would never take it for granted.

The problem I see is that there is quite a few more that really do take all that they have been blessed with for granted. Beyond that there is a sizable portion of our countrymen that also feel entitled to receive even more and that it is the governments duty to provide it to them!
So with the obvious stated above I want to talk a little about what I worry about when it comes to our country.

To be perfectly blunt I feel too many people are being duped and accepting a very biased and fast food variety of information provided by an increasingly irresponsible media.
The formerly fairly objective reporting seems to have given way to highly subjective system of carefully engineered misinformation.

My trust of the news presented by the TV networks, the newspapers and periodicals, and the arts mediums has evaporated. The days of passively accepting their news as true are over for me.
I know that I am not alone.

Do this experiment, watch a day of CSPAN coverage of the House or the Senate and listen to the proceedings. With that information than watch the spin on the nightly newscasts. If you do this in an intellectually honest manner, you will be blown away on what is a "pick and choose" editorially bankrupt practice to lie to the people.

This is a disservice to me but I realize that it is happening, what though of the millions who do not realize it? If this is done during an official investigation of course it would be a crime called obstruction of justice. To me, this constitutes what is called negligence to observe due diligence.
This is a requirement to protect the public from professional practitioners such as a doctor or architect or lawyer. These journalists need to be held to the same standard.

Not only are these news organizations presenting tainted fare they hope for a form of legal monopolistic protection by reinstating the misnamed "Fairness Doctrine" to legislate the power to continue to operate in this manner. This unfair and dishonest information control is being supported by one side of the political spectrum. The very idea of ever doing such a thing is in direct contradiction to their public stance.

This brings me back to what I originally wanted to say.
I hear too often how people really don't care about what is happening politically. I see this as a terrible mistake on the part of the American people. We almost have a situation now where we have now trusted the fox(not the news station) to watch the chickens.

No would ever take something they felt was really important to them and leave it out unlocked or unguarded. Would you take and put a diamond ring on a little table out in your front yard with no concern or no attempt to protect it from anyone who may want to take it from you? Would you just assume that it would still be there for you if left unguarded or unwatched? Would you leave a small child unprotected and alone in a city or a jungle? Of course not, we guard and protect what is important to us.

Why than are people not guarding and protecting this country as they should. Why is it OK not to pay attention? Why do they feel that it isn't that important to personally worry about? If you are one of these people that has more important things to do ask yourself would I have the freedom or liberty to even do these things in other countries? Maybe its time to pay attention. Maybe its time to guard and protect what is important. Maybe it is time to find out the truth on what is happening to this great nation today.

This country is being undermined in more than one way today. There are active powers that wish to impose a much different way of life on all of us. There are groups working to end individual choice, to end liberty, to end freedom in this country.

They are succeeding in broad daylight to accomplish these goals. They have discovered how to use a devastating and effective weapon.

Yes, we are our own worse enemy in this fight. Our weakness is their strength in gaining ground. We are being cooked slowly so as not to jump out of the pot before it is too late.
If we are not to be ruled by tyrants and evil we better come to realize soon we all must be vigilant , we have to care, we must pay attention, we must find a way to be active to guard against complacency or indifference.

So do not be the one who says "I don't really pay attention to politics".
This is a call to duty to your country. Teach your children the real lessons
of history because they are not learning it in schools any more.

Most of all if you are one who is not paying close enough attention...Wake up! Pay attention!

Your country needs you.
